THE COORDINATION OF PUBLIC INITIATIVES FOR THE COMPUTERISATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF APPLICABLE LEGISLATION

The opening of the website www.normattiva.it gives effect to Article 107 of the Law n. 388 of 2000 which had provided for the establishment of a fund intended to finance initiatives aimed at promoting the computerisation and the classification of applicable legislation in order to facilitate research and consultation, free of charge, by citizens, as well as to provide tools for the task of regulatory reorganisation" and had entrusted this task to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Senate of the Republic and to the Chamber of Deputies.

In 2008 Parliament spoke again on the matter, approving the decree-law n.200 which confirmed the aims and inter-institutional structure of the project, at the same time entrusting the Minister for Regulatory Simplification with the task of coordinating activities and providing for the convergence at the Department of Legal and Legislative Affairs of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of "all projects for the computerisation and classification of state and regional legislation being implemented by public administrations". The same decree - in order to give more strength and incisiveness to the coordination among all public subjects - contains the following provision: "Under no circumstances is it permitted to finance, from public budgets, projects for classification and access to applicable regulations that do not fall within the scope of the activities coordinated under this decree".
