Comment on Towards a Dubbing and Audio Description exchange format by Margo Tone https://www.w3.org/blog/2022/05/towards-a-dubbing-and-audio-description-exchange-format/#comment-117280 Sat, 14 May 2022 16:37:24 +0000 https://www.w3.org/blog/?p=20639#comment-117280 Just curious as to more explanation on the AD and Dub exchange as they serve two different needs. The verbiage is so formal. I’ve worked at companies where we add AD to dubbed content, with help from KNPs, etc. It can require a lot of different voices, which makes it very important to be able to allow the AD to stand out from the dubbed program. Especially if you are doing a dub into one language with more than one other language introduced. Very interesting what you’re doing.

Comment on Making WebViews work for the Web by ethang https://www.w3.org/blog/2022/03/making-webviews-work-for-the-web/#comment-117189 Thu, 17 Mar 2022 14:27:42 +0000 https://www.w3.org/blog/?p=20589#comment-117189 Thank you. I’ve run into a lot of issues around this. Such as making a video share web app available on a desktop app. Without access to permissions API, the solution I saw to this was to disable browser security on chromium, which just automatically connects to media devices instead of requesting access. This does not sit well with me at all.

Being able to use web apps on desktop through webviews means more control over the browser window as needed. But there are just way too many sacrifices to make that work right now.

I have been looking at .NET Maui to build multiplatform desktop AND web for one code base. It is meant to build everything to WebAssembly for the web. I think initial load on that would be way too slow but WebAssembly seems like the only out for these sorts of problems right now.

However, I was personally shocked to find no mention of global encryption.
